How to calculate
By following these simple steps, you can calculate the savings from using the Ethanol Blend Optimiser in your gasoline blending.
Step 1
Enter your currency of choice and the units of volume you are accustomed to.
Step 2
Identify the limiting specification you are driving towards. This can either be RON, MON, AKI, or Vapor Pressure. A limiting specification is defined as a specification for a given blend where there are enough degrees of freedom within the blend recipe component usage constraints and component properties to allow the property to be optimised, i.e., driven towards the product quality specification limit.
Step 3
Enter the amount of gasoline being produced at your refinery, in your chosen volume units.
Step 4
Enter the giveaway cost per unit volume for the limiting specification you have chosen. The giveaway cost per unit volume of limiting specifications is a measure used in gasoline blending to understand how much extra money is spent because the gasoline blend exceeds certain quality specifications more than necessary.
Step 5
Adjust the values of the Weighted Giveaway for each scenario (examples are provided):
1. Lab Certification Without Ethanol Blender
2. Lab Certification With Ethanol Blender
3. Online Certification With Ethanol Blender
These values represent how close you can run to the specification.
